For parents

Initial one free hour consultation to discuss your child’s needs. Once a plan of support has been agreed, these can be delivered to your requirements. These may range from  a one off session, to a group of sessions delivered on a weekly basis.

Support may include assistance with establishing routines in your home environment, along with providing the appropriate resources to reinforce this.

Visual supports are indeed a valuable tool for enhancing communication and understanding for autistic children. By providing clear and consistent visual cues, these supports can help create a more structured environment. Here are some key benefits of visual supports:

 Benefits of Visual Supports:

1. **Structure and Routine**: Visual schedules can outline daily activities, helping children anticipate what comes next.
2. **Encouragement of Independence**: Task lists or visual prompts can empower individuals to complete tasks without constant verbal reminders.
3. **Building Confidence**: Clear visuals can reduce uncertainty, allowing children to engage more fully in activities.
4. **Improved Understanding**: Visual aids can clarify instructions or concepts that might be difficult to grasp through verbal communication alone.
5. **Reduction of Frustration and Anxiety**: Predictable visuals can alleviate anxiety by providing a clearer understanding of expectations.
6. **Opportunities for Interaction**: Visual supports can facilitate social interactions by providing common references for communication.

Resources that can support an autistic child’s development include visual cards, emotion and feeling lanyard sets, visual timetables, and social stories. Each of these tools is designed to be tailored specifically to your child’s unique needs, and I handcraft all these resources myself, ensuring they are bespoke and personalized to best support your child’s growth and interaction with their surroundings.

This support also extends to addressing the educational needs of preschool and primary-aged children.

In my part-time role as an Autism Lead Practitioner, I work with children from nursery through to Year 6, providing one-on-one educational support in maths, literacy, and phonics. I deliver these sessions in an engaging and fun manner, carefully adapting them to align with each child’s interests to maintain their focus and enthusiasm. I understand that every autistic child has a unique learning style, and I tailor my approach to meet their individual needs, ensuring they receive the most effective support possible.
